Tutor Profiles MARTIN JONES

Martin is a specialist in Financial Reporting and is responsible for delivering the Corporate Reporting Paper (Professional P2).  There he brings pinpoint exam focus and academic aggression to his lectures.  The aim is to make this tricky and technical paper as easy as possible. 

Also Martin is an expert in Audit.  Partly this expertise takes the form of genuine knowledge of the subject matter and practical experience of the work.  Having worked for many years in audit practice, Martin can use this experience to bring the subject to life.  But more importantly, the expertise is in helping you to pass this almost unbearably dull exam (Fundamentals F8).

Martin has been teaching ACCA since 1994 and over the years has also been involved in the teaching of a whole range of professional courses including CIMA, MBA and ICAEW.  He has also frequently presented Continuing Professional Development courses to all levels of qualified from Partner down.

Martin was a founding partner in the business that evolved into Kaplan ACCA/CIMA.

Prior to coming into teaching Martin worked in accounting practice for seven years principally with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.  First Martin worked in audit.  Then later moved into management in corporate recovery, where the responsibility is to bring companies back from the brink of insolvency.

Martin is a keen squash player, but is also fond of howling out of tune accompanied by his guitar and jigging his hips to a salsa beat (though rarely both at the same time!).
